Beanfield’s new partnership with OMERS Infrastructure

At Beanfield, our goal has always been to connect Canadian communities and businesses by providing a fair, equitable and transparent alternative to Canada’s telecom oligopoly.

At the beginning of 2023, our leadership team and Digital Bridge (our majority owners) began looking for an additional partner who shared in our belief that this can and should happen. By finding a partner who understood and believed in our company culture, industry, and desire for further growth, we aimed to continue building our network across the country.

Today, we are thrilled to announce that we have found that new partner right here in Ontario, in OMERS Infrastructure. OMERS Infrastructure manages global infrastructure investments on behalf of its parent company OMERS (Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System), the defined benefit pension plan for municipal employees in Ontario. With over 30 investments located in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific including three digital infrastructure investments in Germany, France and Australia, OMERS Infrastructure manages approximately $34 billion in assets, but this is its first digital infrastructure sector investment in North America.

This new partnership between Beanfield, Digital Bridge and OMERS Infrastructure is another big step forward for our company and speaks to the strength and value others see in the work that we do, the plan we have, and the mission we’re on. We’re excited for the expertise and passion OMERS Infrastructure will bring to all that we do.

We would like to express thanks to all who participated in this process and especially to our employees and customers. From a little company born 35 years ago in a forgotten corner of downtown Toronto, you have shown that when a real alternative is offered, Canadians respond. We have accomplished a lot in those 35 years, including our last 4 years of hyper-growth and expansion into Montreal and Vancouver. By doing the right thing, in the right way and for the right reasons, we have no doubt that this new partnership with OMERS Infrastructure will help us continue to make a difference for Canadians.
