Art, Culture, and Creativity in Toronto’s Distillery District: the Artscape Distillery Studios are still thriving 15 years after opening.
Artscape is a Toronto-based non-for-profit organization that “makes space for creativity and transforms communities” by connecting people, places, and ideas. Its real estate projects leverage culture and the arts to help revitalize buildings, neighbourhoods, and cities, while generating positive cultural, economic, social, and environmental impacts. Artscape was the first tenant to occupy space in the redeveloped Historic Distillery District; the arts and culture were a catalyst for change in this once abandoned industrial area that is now a dynamic and exciting attraction for both locals and tourists.
