The Power of Community: Beanfield’s Journey in Building Connectivity and Fostering Growth

At Beanfield, putting community first is one of our core values. We believe that the collective strength of a group of individuals united by a common goal can create profound positive change. This belief in the transformative power of community has been the guiding force behind our journey.

Our story begins in Toronto’s Liberty Village over 35 years ago, which at the time, was a small, overlooked neighbourhood, abandoned by the larger telecommunications companies. It was a time when the burgeoning potential of small businesses was stifled due to the lack of reliable Internet connectivity, coinciding with the rapid expansion of the internet in the 1990s. Witnessing this disparity, our founders recognized an opportunity to make a difference.

We undertook the monumental task of building a robust fibre-optic network that spanned throughout the neighbourhood, connecting businesses and residents. Our primary motivation wasn’t just commercial success; it was about nurturing the growth and seeing the potential of a thriving community.

The impact was transformational. With a reliable and high-speed Internet connection, the neighbourhood that was once on the periphery began to flourish. What was once a forgotten area became a vibrant hub of technological innovation and design. Liberty Village has since blossomed into one of Canada’s premier tech and design hubs, and an overall great place to live – a testament to the potential unlocked when a community is empowered.

Since that time, communities like Liberty Village have in turn supported and built up Beanfield to be the company it is today. Our continued partnerships with local BIAs, resident associations, small businesses, and organizations are our way of continuing to give back to the communities we serve. Together, we are stronger, and our mutual success stands as a testament to the fact that when a community stands together, incredible transformations are possible.
